What is the North Yorkshire Compact?
It is a written agreement between the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) and
the public sector detailing how they will work together for the benefit of communities.
More than that, it is a way of working - setting out shared values, principles
and commitments made to each other to improve the way we all work together, consult
and make decisions.
How does it work?
There is an over-arching statement, which sets out the prinicples, undertakings
and commitments to work together for mutual advantage. This is underpinned by
specific codes of practice on key areas of collaboration. To date the group has
developed and published five codes of practice, on Information and Communication,
Consultation, Funding, Volunteering and Black and Minority Ethnic Groups.
Consultation Code of Practice
Funding Code of Practice
Volunteering Code of Practice
Black and Minority Ethnic Groups Code of Practice
Strategically, responsibility for the implementation and monitoring of the North
Yorkshire Compact rests with the North Yorkshire Strategic Partnership. A cross-sector
Steering Group comprising representatives from many of the signatories to the
North Yorkshire Compact continues to develop and review its terms and provisions
to reflect the realities of local circumstances and oversee implementation.
