Compact

Monitoring and compliance

Following the Compact Survey conducted in July 2007, the Steering Group developed an internal monitoring, dispute resolution and Compact improvement process.  This process aims to meet identified needs for promotion of the value of the Compact, awareness raising for VCS and statutory sector staff and volunteers and to identify where increased support or additional tools are required.

The short monitoring form should be completed whenever reference to the Compact strengthens a new or existing partnership arrangement, or whenever a challenge for implementation is identified.

The Steering Group is keen that as the Compact way of working is embedded across the NYSP, partners should be able to discuss improvements openly and constructively.  To support this, it has approved an internal process to address any concerns regarding Compact compliance effectively, amicably and constructively.  If you believe that a new or existing process or system does not comply with the spirit or the letter of the Compact or its Codes of Practice, you should refer to this process in the first instance.

This internal process does not replace the existing arbitration mechanisms provided by the Compact Advocacy Programme http://www.ncvo-vol.org.uk/compactadvocacy/index.asp?id=1948 or legal advice.
