Data on migration trends
As part of our recent review of the impact of inward migration, the North yOrkshire
Strategic Partnership has worked on improving the quality of data that we have
on the distribution of migrant workers across the County. However, there are
a number of limitations on how accurate the data can be and therefore we are keen
to maximise the use of anecdotal evidence to ensure that our services continue
to meet the needs of the community.
There are a number of different sources of information available to support organisations
to create their own data to meet their needs:
Resource guide on local migration statistics
This guide is produced by the Local Government Association to assist local authorities
and their partners in developing local population and migration estimates and
trends, with particular reference to:
- the role of international migration and its impact on local populations;
- early warnings of trends in such migrant flows and the extent of population churn.
