Free training for members of the community to become accredited interpreters
The Migration Impact Fund has provided some funding to help us to offer a training
package, professional examination and registration on the National Register of
Public sector Interpreters. We will also be actively encouraging the interpreters
to volunteer within their communities.
Interpreters will be able to earn between £33 and £66 per hour. The course and
materials will be supplied free of charge to potential interpreters. The course
will cover the practicality of interpreting but also diversity, equality and integrity.
We are working with the public and voluntary sectors to recruit interpreters across
the Yorkshire and Humber regions. We have identified that we need over 30 languages
from around the world to provide the community with a quality service from councils,
police and support networks.
I hope that this might be of interest to you and that you will be able to forward
this email to any individuals or organisations who may also find this of interest.
If you wish to become more involved in the project or would like further information,
please do not hesitate to contact me.
