Working in partnership North Yorkshire County Council is producing its first
Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) with North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust. We are also working closely
with the Third Sector (voluntary and community services and groups) and Local
Strategic Partnerships to understand exactly what services the citizens of North
Yorkshire need to support their health and well-being.
Production of a Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is a legal requirement
from 1st April 2008 for organisations with formal responsibility for planning
and arranging publicly funded provision of health and social care services. This
is known as commissioning.
In North Yorkshire the responsibility for health and social care commissioning
lies with North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust, North Yorkshire County
Council's Adult and Community Services and North Yorkshire County Council's Children
and Young People's Services.
The Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) looks at the information available
for the communities of North Yorkshire and tells the story of the local populations
in terms of health and well-being. This allows us to understand the current and
future health and well-being needs of the population over both the short-term
(three to five year), to help inform Local Area Agreements and the long term future,
to inform strategic planning.
An over-arching Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) describing the whole
of North Yorkshire will be produced along with seven local JSNA's which will focus
on each of North Yorkshire's 7 Districts.
More information is available from North Yorkshire County Councils Website www.northyorks.gov.uk . The quickest way to find the information is by using the A-Z services and
searching for Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.
