OLDER PEOPLES PARTNERSHIP BOARD.
In June of 2008 the Adult/Healthier Communities Strategic Partnership (A/HCSP)
agreed that there should be an Older Peoples Partnership Board to monitor progress
on 'Planning for Older Age 2008-10' and to improve communication channels with
older people. The key aim would be to ensure the voice of older people (50+),
including seldom heard groups, directly influence the priorities, commissioning
and service developments of the A/HCSP,its constituent partners and the NYSP and
that cross cutting linkages are made recognising the diversity of the needs and
contribution of older people.
Progress to date:
The local membership of the Board was drawn from the seven District Councils.
This constituted three members from each, one of whom was a Local Strategic Partnership
representative. This took place in the latter part of 2008.
The tender for support services to the Board was won by Age Concern North Yorkshire
and Richard Jackson was appointed as the Support Officer to the Board on Sept
1st 2008.
At the initial meeting of the Board on 23rd Oct 2008 4 main priority areas were
agreed upon from which Task Groups were formed.
The priority areas were:
1. Financial Wellbeing in older age inc the area of Fuel Poverty
2. Loneliness and Isolation
3. Transport and Access
4. Sustainable funding for the 3rd Sector/Voluntary Organisations - also to include
the area of volunteering
The Board has met on two occassions since and the Task Groups are progressing
with their work.
