The Civil Contingencies Act (2004) requires local authorities to provide advice
and assistance to those undertaking commercial activities and to voluntary organisations
in relation to business continuity management (BCM) in the event of emergencies.
The Authorities within North Yorkshire must provide general advice and assistance
to the business and voluntary sector communities at large. We may provide specific
advice and assistance to individual organisations or we can refer organisations
to business continuity consultants.
Business Continuity is a planning process, which provides a framework for ensuring
resilience of your business to threats and challenges, be they natural or man-made.
This approach will help you to ensure that key customers, your brand, reputation
and key suppliers are maintained, as well as your long-term survival.
Business Continuity needs to be considered by small companies and organisations
as well as larger corporations.
Plans need to be clear, simple and tailored to the needs of the organisation.
By developing a business continuity plan, risks can be effectively managed to
ensure that you can continue to operate to a pre-determined minimum level in the
event of a disruption.
This will enable you to continue to operate during and following an interruption
to your organisation.
